Trinity Martinez, PhD
Trinity Martinez is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Davidson College. She earned her PhD at The Graduate Center, City University of New York; her MA at Hunter College, City University of New York; and her BA at New Jersey City University. Her area of expertise is the Art and Architecture of Mediterranean Europe between 1300 and 1600, and her specialization is the art and culture of Renaissance Florence, particularly the decorative arts. Her research has focused on Greco-Roman mythology—specifically hybrid beasts and strange creatures—in Italian Renaissance artworks; however, her most current research focuses on a series of late 14th-century Florentine wedding chests and how the decorative designs on the panels may have been inspired by Hispano-Islamic motifs.
