Dean Chadwin is a teacher, an author, a journalist, a playwright, and a lifelong lover of the theater. While pursuing a history degree at Yale in the 1980s, he had the good fortune to see multiple world premieres of August Wilson’s plays at the Yale Repertory Theater. After a brief stint as a lawyer, he earned a master’s degree in Playwriting and Fiction at the University of Southern California (1994). During that period, he became a sportswriter and authored four sports books, including Those Damn Yankees, a critical history of the New York Yankees and 1999 finalist for the Casey Award for the Best Baseball Book of the Year. In the aftermath of 9/11, he became a public schoolteacher in New York City, teaching math to middle and high school students for a decade. He was selected as a Master Teacher by Math for America.
