Redistricting in North Carolina: The Case for Free Elections
Adam Doerr will speak to us about the redistricting cases, the new districts, and the fight to ensure that every vote counts equally in North Carolina.

About the Event
Every ten years, the North Carolina legislature re-draws the maps for State legislative and Congressional districts, based on the results of the new census. In the latest round of redistricting, the legislature created maps that heavily favored the majority party’s candidates. Groups of concerned citizens and voting rights organizations successfully sued to overturn the maps, arguing that the gerrymandered districts deprived North Carolina voters of their rights under the State constitution.
Adam Doerr is a lawyer at Robinson Bradshaw in Charlotte. He was part of the legal team that represented the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters in successfully challenging the gerrymandered maps. Adam will speak to us about the redistricting cases, the new districts, and the fight to ensure that every vote counts equally in North Carolina.
