About the Event

Every ten years, the North Carolina legislature re-draws the maps for State legislative and Congressional districts, based on the results of the new census. In the latest round of redistricting, the legislature created maps that heavily favored the majority party’s candidates. Groups of concerned citizens and voting rights organizations successfully sued to overturn the maps, arguing that the gerrymandered districts deprived North Carolina voters of their rights under the State constitution.
