About the Event

In this preview, Professors Costa and Culpepper will introduce you to the music and story of this fun-filled musical. Come learn about our production process and get a sneak peek into several of the songs from the show. The real treat is that the music will be performed by the cast consisting of very talented Davidson College students.

The Drowsy Chaperone won 5 Tony Awards on Broadway in 2006 including Best Book and Best Original Score. The main character is living in NYC feeling a bit blue and to make himself and the audience feel better he transports us to a musical set in the Roaring 1920s where we meet fabulous song and dance characters such as: an effervescent show starlet and her upbeat bridegroom, comedic gangsters disguised as pastry chefs, a panicked producer, and a very tipsy chaperone. Come meet these heart-warming characters played by Davidson students.
