On Stage With Common Thread Theatre Collective

Common Thread Theatre Collective is a professional theatre company committed to presenting voices and stories that have been underrepresented in American mainstream theatre. A collaboration between Davidson College and North Carolina A&T State University, Common Thread offers thought-provoking theatre with diverse casts and themes, featuring the work of theatre professionals, as well as theatre faculty and students from each school. Common Thread staged two productions on the campus of Davidson College last summer, and this summer, the company will return with two new shows exploring themes of redemption, family and the American Dream. Greg Horton and Karli Henderson, two of the founders of Common Thread, will talk about the company, what it has achieved, and what comes next. 

Gregory J. Horton is an Associate Professor in, and currently serves as Interim Chair of, the Visual and Performing Arts Department at North Carolina A&T State University. As Resident Costume Designer for the Theatre Department, Greg’s duties involve designing, building and preserving costumes for all main stage productions. His research interests include costume history, costume reproduction and directing. 

As Producer/Lecturer in the Theatre Department at Davidson College, Karli Henderson oversees all aspects of theatre production, including scheduling, budgeting, marketing and outreach. Before coming to Davidson, Karli was the managing director for Louisiana State University's School of Theatre, and her experience also includes managing and producing in a variety of professional and regional theatres. Karli is a member of Actors Equity Association.
