Law Enforcement in Today’s World

Davidson Police Chief Penny Dunn will talk with us about the evolution and the challenges of policing. She says: “Good policing is complex. It includes skills not taught in police academies and issues not listed in criminal statutes. We need to examine the profession and understand that our duty to keep communities safe is a public trust that requires the most dedicated of individuals. But attracting the right people to do this work is getting harder, and keeping our officers—our most valued resource— safe and engaged in the work is an even greater challenge.”
