Climate Change: Media Stories v. Scientific Evidence
Dr. Scheff will consider climate change as a real and important issue and will report on progress (or lack thereof) in mitigating the effects of climate change.
Time and Location
Feb 14, 1:00 PM
Davidson Town Hall, 251 South St, Davidson, NC 28036, USA
About the Event
In our media-saturated age, we constantly hear either that climate change is an existential threat to humanity and our planet, or that climate change is no big deal (or even a hoax) and should just be ignored. However, we rarely hear the perspective of working, non-activist climate scientists who are trying to understand how and why climate change affects our lives. Dr. Scheff will provide that perspective and will consider climate change as a real and important issue. He will also report on progress (or lack thereof) in mitigating the effects of climate change.

Jack Scheff is an Assistant Professor in Geography and Earth Sciences at UNC Charlotte. His research asks how and why global climate change affects Earth’s water cycle, atmospheric circulation and weather systems. He teaches classes related to climate, climate change, and surface-atmosphere interaction, and he speaks and writes on weather and climate for both professional and public audiences.
