Instructors
Tony Abbott, PhD (Deceased)

Tony Abbott was the Charles A. Dana Professor of English Emeritus at Davidson College, where he served as Chair of the English Department and Director of Creative Writing for many years. He authored both novels and books of poems. He was the winner of the 2015 NC Award for Literature and his collection of poetry, If Words Could Save Us, was named co-winner of the 2012 Brockman-Campbell Award from the NC Poetry Society. His book, The Angel Dialogues, received honorable mention in the 2015 Brockman-Campbell competition. The last of his 8 books of poetry, Dark Side of North, was published posthumously. Tony was a beloved teacher for DavidsonLearns from its inception, Fall 2012, through Fall 2020.
