Collen Thrailkill, PhD
Colleen Thrailkill holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Emory University, a master’s in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University, and a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Florida. She also worked as a certified Lamaze childbirth instructor for 12 years. She has had a lifelong interest in lifespan human development and for 36 years taught children in every grade of elementary school, first as a classroom teacher and then as a resource teacher for children in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Gifted and Talented program. She has served as a supervising teacher for interns, a supervising teacher for an exchange teacher from China, a contributor to several professional magazines for teachers, and a presenter at regional and state gifted conferences. Now retired from teaching children and young adults, she is interested in exploring the impact and the role that grandparents have in the 21st -century American family.
